Notes

Odekercken is first recorded in guild records at The Hague in 1631 as a pupil. He registered as a house painter in 1643 in Delft and was a successful house contracter there until his death. As an artist, he painted still lifes, portraits, genre scenes and kitchen maids. The present work is a particularly fine example of his kitchen maid type, demonstrating his skill as both a figure and still life painter.
