signed and dated 1922 u.r.
inscribed lower center: To my good friend/ Otto Kurth/ W. Langdon Kihn/ Aug. 1922
19" x 14"

Kihn's modernist style of portraiture is reminiscent of the work of his teacher, Winold Reiss. His coverage of North American Indian tribes was extensive, and it is believed he executed over 500 portraits.
Kihn and Otto Kurth (1883-1965), would have probably been friends. Kurth served as photoengraver for several publications during the early half of the 20th century.
