Architecte d'origine suisse, émigré aux Etats-Unis en 1920, William Lescaze (1886-1969) travaille d'abord à Cleveland et New York avant de fonder son propre cabinet, en association avec George Howe. Architectes et designers, tous deux contribuent à introduire aux Etats-Unis le style International, en construisant notamment un des premiers gratte-ciels véritablement modernes, le Philadelphia Savings Fund Society Buiding, en 1932, à Philadelphie.

WILLIAM LESCAZE

Born in Geneva, Switzerland, William Lescaze (1896-1969), emigrated to The United States in 1920. He started his carreer in Cleveland and New York, before creating his own company in collaboration with George Howe (in New York), Lescaze concentrating on design. Instrumental in introducing the International Style to the US, the firm completed one of the first truly modern skyscrapers, the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society Building, Philadelphia, 1932
