Description

WILLIAM PERCY (1820-1903) PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG LADY seated, three-quarter length in a high back chair, watercolour, signed and dated 1852 mounted and framed in good gilt swept frame. 42cm x 33cm ***William Percy was one of the founders of Manchester Academy of Art, a friend of the noted Carlisle artist Sam Bough (1822-1878). Percy painted a portrait of Bough in 1846 (Tullie House Art Gallery), occasionally they collaborated on paintings.
