signed, and Rookwood Pottery logo. Macdonald was a Cincinnati painter and maintained a position on the staff of Rookwood Pottery (since 1882). He studied with Frank Duveneck at the Cincinnati Art Academy and was a member of the Cincinnati Art Club and the Duveneck Society of Painters and Sculptors. This is an ambitious work executed by Macdonald in direct association with Rookwood Pottery.
