William R. C. Wood (MD, 1875-1915), Autumn Road, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left W. R. C. Wood / 1913, a scenic landscape with winding dirt road sheltered by trees blazing in their autumnal colors, verso of stretcher retains original paper label reading Artistic Picture Framing E. H. Wiederhold 150-152 N. Gay St. Baltimore MD, presented in an attractive, likely original, ornate gilt composition frame; William Reuben Clark Wood was a noted Maryland landscape painter. He was active in numerous local art societies including the Charcoal Club, the Baltimore Watercolor Club, and the Municipal Art Society of Baltimore. In addition to his association with these groups, Wood also exhibited with the Baltimore Art Club between 1905 and 1907. - SS 17.5h x 23.5w, DOA 25.5h x 31.5w - Professionally patched en verso, some area of loss to top of frame.
