Notes

Staite Murray was the Head of the Royal College of Art in the 1920s and 1930s. He showed his work alongside Ben Nicholson, Christopher Wood and other foremost artist and sculptors of the time. He gained much recognition for his powerful abstracted decoration and is considered, beside Bernard Leach and Michael Cardew, one of the three most influential early pioneering studio potters. The Victoria and Albert Museum, London has a holding of his work.
