* Wilson (David, 1873-1935). Mr. William Collier, cartoon in pen, ink & blue wash, signed and dated 1905 upper left, inscribed to M.G.W. lower left, 27.5 x 22cm (10.75 x 8.75ins), framed and glazed, together with another Edwardian cartoon by Jimmy, entitled 'The Modern Pet Dog', signed and dated 1912. David Wilson was an Irish cartoonist, caricaturist and artist, who was born in County Tyrone, and grew up in Belfast, where he joined the Belfast Arts Society. His first cartoon was published in the Daily Chronicle in 1895. He contributed 55 cartoons to Punch between 1900 and 1933, and was chief cartoonist for The Graphic from 1910 to 1916. William Collier (1864-1944) was an American writer, director and stage actor, who also worked in films with Mack Sennett.. (2)
