First published in 1966 and with over 100,000 copies sold by the time the book went into its third edition in 1970, Mirror of Venus , a poetic and photographic essay described as 'a visual valentine to feminine beauty', endures as the apex of Paine's distinctive photographic style. The text was provided by Francoise Sagan, author of the 1953 bestseller 'Bonjour Tristesse', and the celebrated screen writer and director, Frederico Fellini.
