Description

Wladyslaw Chajec (1904-1985, Ameircan), "Adam and Eve", 1972, wood carving. Size: 12" x 10" x 6". Chajec was born in America and raised in Poland. Following trauma of WW1, he escaped the 2nd War and forced labor by living in the woods. When he emerged, his sculptures were mostly biblical including Adam and Eve, the Flood and Flight into Egypt. He also carved political representations of the war and loss. Permanent Museum collections: Warsaw (Poland), Krakow (Poland), Lublin (Poland), Nowy Sac (Poland) and Neuss (Germany).
