THE CAMBUSKENNETH IN FULL SAIL SIGNED AND INSCRIBED 'WOOLSTON BARRATT/NEWCASTLE NSW' (LOWER RIGHT) OIL ON CANVAS 22 X 32IN. (55.8 X 81.4CM.) NOTES THE STEEL FULL-RIGGER CAMBUSKENNETH WAS BUILT AND MANAGED BY RUSSELL & CO. ALONG WITH THEIR CAMBUSWALLACE AND CAMBUSDOON. REGISTERED AT 1,925 TONS GROSS, CAMBUSKENNETH MEASURED 263 FEET IN LENGTH WITH A 39 FOOT BEAM AND TURNED IN SOME REMARKABLY FAST PASSAGES ON THE AUSTRALIA RUN IN HER FIRST FEW YEARS. SOLD TO NORWEGIAN OWNERS IN 1909, SHE BECAME A WAR CASUALTY IN 1915 WHEN, ON 29TH JUNE, SHE WAS SUNK BY A GERMAN SUBMARINE OFF GALLEY HEAD, IN THE IRISH SEA, WHILST MAKING FOR LIVERPOOL WITH A CARGO OF OREGON WHEAT.
