The present panel reflects the influence of artists such as Ludovico Mazzolino (Ferrara circa 1480-after 1528), Battista Dossi (Ferrara circa 1474-1548) and Garofalo (circa 1481-1519 Ferrara), as can be seen in The Holy Family with Saint John and Elizabeth by Garofalo, on the London art market in 1992 (see A. Ballarin, Dosso Dossi, La Pittura a Ferrara negli anni del Ducato di Alfonso I (Padua, 1994), vol. I, pl. LXXV) and The Adoration of the Christ Child by Ortolano in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, John G. Johnson Collection.
