吳熙載 蜀葵石圖 設色紙本 立軸 Between the Thunder and the Rain, Asian Art Museum Chong-Moon Lee Center for Asian Art and Culture, San Francisco, CA October 25, 2000- January 14, 2001. Published: Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, Between the Thunder and the Rain, San Francisco, 2000. p. 75, no. 29. Wu Xizai was a student of the calligrapher Bao Shichen (1775-1855) for a number of years, strongly influencing his calligraphy and seal carving. This composition of hollyhocks and a Taihu stone in the boneless manner typify his flower paintings. Although undated, it is likely that the composition was painted after the age of fifty, when he adapted the style name Xizai.
