Lot 182: Yamada Baske (Japanese, 1871 -1934)

Two watercolor scenes on paper mounted onto board, each measuring approx. 15-5/8" x 22-1/4" unframed. The first is a lovely misty landscape with a bridge over a small stream, signed in English and in Japanese at the lower right corner, with an unfinished landscape on the reverse side that has been written over. The second is another misty scene with junks afloat on the sea, signed in the lower right corner.

Mounted down onto cardboard; handling wear, slight light exposure. The painting with the junks has a small splotch of adhesive and paper on the surface at the lower right and some adhesive residues around the perimeter.
