Description

Yolanda Fusco (Czech/American, 1920 - 2009), "Spring Flowers," watercolor and pencil on paper, signed at lower right, measures 15.75 x 11.75 inches to the matt edge, 20 x 16 inches matted, unframed. CONDITION: Good. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1920, Yolanda Fusco came to New York City at the age of ten, and she started painting at the age of twelve. She studied at the Art Students League with Ernest Fiene, Harry Sternberg, and Vaclav Vytlacil, and also studied textile design at Pratt Institute. She first visited Monhegan at the urging of artist friends in the summer of 1959 and became a founding member of the Women Artists of Monhegan Island.
