Description

Yosaif Cohain (b 1945) Silver print Selenium toned photograph. Matted and framed. Yosaif Cohain "is an Israeli photographer and pedagogue, which, under the influence of Ansel Adams, Richard Avedon, or Robert Franck, brought Israels awareness of world art photography in the 1970s. The photograph in Israel was not then understood as an art, but as an informative medium. Yosaif Cohain was the first photographer to have exhibited the Art Museum in Tel Aviv, and he also began to teach photography as an artistic form at several Israeli schools. He became one of the founding members of the Photo Department at the Bezalel Academy (1906), the main Israeli art academy, where he teaches today."

Original printing. Signed lower left in English, lower right in Hebrew. Taped at the top into matte that is also signed in pencil on the matte. Simple frame.
