Notes

"My work is a by-product of political and economic turmoil. My attention is directed to issues of violence, gender and religion and how they find their place in our bubblegum culture. With my work, everything comes directly out of Beirut. Walking along Hamra Street, one will find a large painting of a militia martyr...next to a run down taxi speeding ahead to a super night club...next to a little shrine with a miniature Jesus and a miniature Mary and fairy lights and plastic flowers, next to a mother who has just bought her son a toy gun set...next to the church that is next to the mosque that has just begun the call for prayer."
