The elevated Villa Belmonte has allowed the artist a fabulous view of the bay of Palermo from the north west.

Both works (lots 518 and 518A) were cleaned in 2009 by Dirk Ferlmann of the Atelier für Papierrestaurierung in Cologne. When the original glazed and framed works were opened for this restauration, thirty pages from the "Osnabrückischen Oeffentlichen Anzeigen" dated 1833 were discovered (in octave format and uncut). The pages had obviously been intended as filler material.

Die auf einer Anhöhe liegende Villa Belmonte bietet dem Maler einen einmaligen Blick von Nord-Westen auf die Bucht von Palermo.

Eine Reinigung beider Arbeiten (Lot 518 und 518A) erfolgte im Jahre 2009 durch Dirk Ferlmann, Atelier für Papierrestaurierung, Köln.
Beim Öffnen der original gerahmten und noch mit Altglas verglasten Arbeiten kamen, wahrscheinlich als "Polstermaterial" gedacht, dreißig Blatt (im Oktavformat und unbeschnitten) der "Osnabrückischen Oeffentlichen Anzeigen" von 1833 zum Vorschein.
