Chevrolet has a rich automaking heritage that dates back more than a century. In 1909, the racer Louis Chevrolet was hired to drive for the Buick racing team. The entrepreneurial-minded William C. Durant, founder of GM, sought to further capitalize on the famed driver's reputation by extended that success beyond on-track performance.

After losing control of GM in 1910 during an unsuccessful attempt to acquire Ford, Durant coaxed Chevrolet into forming a new automaker. In 1911, the company launched with the Chevrolet Classic Six Series C. Two years afterward it launched its famous bow tie logo and four years after that it was purchased by General Motors.

More than one hundred years later, Chevy Impalas provide their owners with a stylish smooth ride and spacious interior, Silverado pickup trucks have securely hauled everything from freshly-picked harvest to construction materials, the Corvette and Camaro have satisfied the need for speed, and the gas-electric hybrid Volt brought green efficiency to the road.
