Glass Vases

From Art Deco to Waterford crystal, the field of antique and vintage glass vases is incredibly diverse. The glass vase has been present for centuries, but it is arguably the most recent eras that have produced the form's most compelling designs.

The vase emerged in the earliest days of human culture with purely functional connotations, but as time progressed vases became increasingly nuanced. In addition to new decorative motifs and shapes specialized for different purposes, artisans also explore the medium of glass as they contemplated the bounds of function and aesthetics.

It is the aesthetic aspect that has been most explored in recent centuries. The greatest producers of the 19th and 20th centuries, from Daum and Gallé to American Brilliant cut glass, celebrated the versatility of the medium in creating a rich range of styles, sizes, and motifs that will continue invigorate glassmakers for generations to come.
