Ridgway China

Ridgway was established in 1744 in Staffordshire by Ralph Ridgway. However, it was not until 1792 that Ridgway Potteries Limited became registered by brothers George and Job Ridgway. Ridgeway wares included dessert, tea, and dinner services, but it was their earthenware with blue designs that were the most popular. During an 1851 exhibition, Ridgway wares received a high recommendation from Her Majesty Queen Victoria, who referred to the china manufactory as one of the largest and most well conducted of the Staffordshire factories. Ridgway Pottery later merged with Booths & Colcoughs China Company in the 1940s, and then became part of Royal Doulton in the 1960s.
