Rings - General

Men’s rings come in such a rich variety of designs and styles that it almost rivals the enduring history of men wearing such bands on their fingers. One of the earliest forms of jeweled adornment for men, men’s rings can be traced back close to 6,000 years.

Even in their early iterations in the civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean, rings were a symbol of both power and status. Rough-hewn and hammered rings conjured from precious metals implied a man's wealth and authority. By the age of ancient Greece, jewelry designers had developed a way in which to inset large intaglio designs into rings, which evolved over the century into the immensely popular signet, or cartouche, ring.

Rings continue today to be one of the most popular pieces to be ported by men, with the central innovation since those ancient days being refinements in manufacture and setting. Antique and vintage men’s rings reflect this vast history while also reflecting the refinement of the wearer.
