Women's Audemars Piguet Watches

Audemars Piguet’s grand complication timepieces are manufactured in Le Brassus, Vallée de Joux, in the Jura mountains of Switzerland, where the company was founded in 1875. Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet were two friends with a shared vision: to develop watches with highly complex mechanisms, a tradition that continues to this day.

The very first movement crafted specifically for ladies debuted in 1883. Women’s wrists demanded designs of smaller, more delicate proportions, and the watchmaker’s craftsmen and technicians embraced the challenge by packing each ladies’ watch with the tiniest, and most complex, of calibres, often cleverly concealing them beneath ornate cases adorned with gemstones.

Many vintage women’s Audemars Piguet watches available at auction today have coin-thin dials and yet boast astonishingly complicated movements; Audemars Piguet received acclaim for this technical feat in 1946 when it debuted the world’s thinnest wristwatch.
