    Benucci Filippo Rom 1779 - Rom 1848 Landscape with Customs station Oil/canvas, 49,5 x 60,5 cm, lo. ri. monogr. FB, min. rest. - Prov.: Archduke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin; Munich private collection. The painting is accompanied by a photo with a note that it belongs to the Archduke of Mecklenburg. - The painting is probably from the period 1825-36, when the artist lived in Munich. At that time Germany consisted of countless small states which all collected their own duties. In a manner evocative of Spitzweg Benucci illustrates a provincial Bavarian idyll. - Italian painter, pupil of G. A. Wallis, 1825-36 he lived a. worked in Munich, where he exhibited regularly in the Kunstverein, thereafter he moved to Milan. Since then he mainly painted landscapes from South Italy, Sicily a.
