Still life of flowers by the painter have already sold for about €10,000 in the international auction market Condition: The painting is in good condition with slight framing marks. The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is somewhat soiled, but the colors appear still fresh. The inspection under UV light reveals scattered minor areas of retouching affecting the flowers. The frame shows major losses. The size of the painting is 92 x 66 cm, and the frame measures 117 x 92 cm. Louis-Jean-Baptiste Boulangé (1812-1878) According to biographer André Joubin, Louis Boulangé worked as a decorative painter for theaters. The archive of the Louvre mentions him as a pupil of Eugène Delacroix, who collaborated with Delacroix in some works, including the Salon de la Paix and the Chapelle des Saints-Anges, as well as the paintings of ‘La Justice de Trajan’ and ‘L'Entrée des Croisés à Constantinople ‘. Besides still lifes of flowers, Boulangé painted mainly landscapes and exhibited regularly at the Salon from 1845 onwards. In his landscapes, he was influenced by the School of Barbizon.
