An architectural landscape, painted in an abstract folk art style, depicting a Mexican village scene, with church courtyard, architectural elements and a cross form. Artist signed to lower left COPELAND BURG. Original circa 1950s LA BOUTIQUE FANTASTIQUE (Chicago) gallery labels affixed to verso, with prior owner name ROGER MCCORMICK (1920-1968), as well as title and artist name. Presented with a linen border in a decorative frame. Note: In the historical record, the artist's year of birth is often misidentified as 1895, a year the artist himself advanced. From the Chicago estate of American gallerist and philanthropist Maria McCormick (1937-2021). Work Size: 43 x 23 in. Dimensions: 51 X 31 X 2 in. His work is in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.
