    Oil on canvas scene shows a town situated on a hill leading to water with hills and mountains beyond. The foreground house has a connected barn and fences. Unsigned front but having its original penned label on reverse with title and artist. Housed in its original gilt frame liner. SIZE: 14" x 16". CONDITION: Surface dirt, very good. 9-20167

    YOUNG GIRLS PICKING FLOWERS measurements 17 1/2 by 29 3/4 in. alternate measurements 44.5 by 75.5 cm. signed Burling and dated 1868 (lower right) oil on canvas Condition Note: Canvas is not lined. SURFACE: in good condition, overall; scattered craquelure UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: inpainting along the edges (particularly heavy along the right and lower edges); a few short, horizontal lines of inpaint scattered along foreground in grassy area just under figures; a spot in "dead-center" of painting (about 1/2 in. diam.); a few scattered , smaller spots at upper left and upper right; signature is under old varnish--inpainting underneath and nearby just grazes the lower part of the date.
