              MOTHER TERESA (1910 - 1997) Yugoslav Catholic nun called the "Saint of the Gutters" for her work with the poor of Calcutta. Rarely encountered A.N.S. penned by her at the bottom of a 3" x 5 1/2" printed prayer card bearing her photo on the recto. At the bottom of the printed prayer, Mother Teresa has added a note to an American parish priest: "Dear Fr. Martin, Be only all for Jesus Give only Jesus Love only Jesus God bless you. M. Teresa MC 14-5-82" A copy of the photo side of the postcard is matted with the (original) signed reverse of the card, the pair double matted in shades of gray with beaded silver wood trim, all set into an attractive black wood frame. Very fine condition, a beautiful presentation.

The verso bears a printed image of Mother Teresa, hands clasped in prayer, accompanied by a bief message encouraging frequent prayer. Fine.

              Catholic nun and Christian missionary, Mother Teresa (1910-1997), was a great humanitarian, winning a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. Her fervent efforts to help the poor were further awarded with a Balzan Prize, a Bharat Ratna and a Presidential Medal of Freedom. By the time of her death, the Missionaries of Charity, which she founded, were operating in 123 countries and Pope John Paul II beatified the nun with the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. Signed "M Teresa MC", one page prayer slip, 6½" x 3½ ink-stamped letterhead, Missionaries of Charity. A reply to a request is printed: "I am sorry I cannot consent to your request. Be assured of my prayers for you that the love of God be made manifest through the book you write." The reverse features a quote from the prophet Isaiah and a black and white image of Mother Teresa smiling, while lifting a small child.
