Parts 1-5, 7, 12, and 'Supplement of East Indian Cattle' only, with text leaf and plates depicting specimens belonging to the Duke of Bedford and components of other parts, oblong broadsheets bound in an upright format (414 x 544mm). 39 (only, of 52) hand-coloured etched plates, some on smaller sheets. (Some variable spotting and marking, early leaves creased.) Contemporary half calf over marbled boards, spine gilt in compartments, titled in one (extremities rubbed and scuffed, spine a little worn with small losses). Provenance : David William, third Earl of Mansfield (1777-1840, bookplate). GARRARD'S FINELY-ILLUSTRATED WORK ON OXEN. This copy is, like many, fragmentary, and comprises the title and introduction leaves, followed by parts 1-5, 7, and 12 (i.e. Devonshire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire, Sussex, Holderness, Suffolk Polled, and Alderney), together with the 'Supplement of East Indian Cattle' (all with explanatory text leaves), and some other plates.
