Cadre plaqué d’ébène. 13 x 10 cm. Cadre : 21 x 18 cm. A.B.E. Biographie : Henri Joseph Hesse (1781-1849) élève de David et d’Isabey, il fut un des miniaturistes les plus talentueux de son époque, sous l’Empire et la Restauration, période durant laquelle il fut le protégé de la Duchesse de Berry. Louis Marie de la Revelliere-Lepeaux (1753-1824) Député aux États généraux (1789) puis à la Convention (1792), où il siégea avec les Girondins, il participa à l’élaboration de la Constitution de l’an III. Membre du Conseil des Anciens puis directeur (1795), il prépara avec Barras et Rewbell le coup d’État du 18 fructidor (4 septembre 1797), mais dut démissionner le 30 prairial au VIII (18 juin 1799).Ecole allemande de la fin du XVIIIe siècle, entourage d’Anton GRAFF Frédéric Auguste Ier de Saxe (1750-1827), en buste de profil en uniforme.

Henri Joseph HESSE. Pair of portrait. Ink in an oval, signed and dated 1811. Rich Empire gilded frame. Henri Joseph HESSE (Paris, 1781 - 1849) Couple, paire de portraits. Encre insolée, dans un ovale, signée et datée "1811". 24 x 20 cm. Riche cadre doré Empire. Aquarelliste, miniaturiste, dessinateur, élève de David et d'Isabey père, Hesse débute au Salon de 1808. Il excelle dans les portraits des grands personnages de la Restauration, notamment celui de la duchesse de Berry, qui fut exposé au Salon de 1819.
