The human being is focal point of the art of Swiss Reto Kern. Thus offered lithograph from 1989 also depicts a figural-abstracted composition, whose protruding feature are human limbs, namely arms with large hands. The contours are rendered in deep black and together with the monumentally shaped body parts, a slightly threatening atmosphere is being created. The lithograph is signed and dated at the lower right in white crayon ‘RKern ‘89’ as well as inscribed centric at the lower part ‘für Josef’ (also in white crayon). It is in a very good condition. Reto Kern (b. 1958) The Swiss Reto Kern was born in 1958 and attended the Art School at St. Gallen. What followed were two apprenticeships, one as interior designer and one as lithographer. He worked as an employee of Urban Stoob and at the Erker-Galerie, St. Gallen. In both trained fields, Kern has established himself freelance. The focus of his art is the human being, often displayed in soft, highly abstracted and elongated forms. His works have been shown in numerous Swiss exhibitions, for example on 1992 at the Kulturzentrum Ziegelhütte, Appenzell, or in 1990 at the Galerie vor der Klostermauer in St. Gallen.
