A COLLECTION OF SEVEN FEMALE NUDES PHOTO PRINTS

A collection of seven vintage black and white photographs printed on no photographic paper depicting female nudes. Photos by Louis-Victor-Emmanuel Sougez (French, 1889-1972), Ergy or Erzsy Landau (a Hungarian-French humanist photographer, 1896-1967), Eugene Rubin (Russian, French, 1906-2001), Andre de Dienes (1913–1985) was a Hungarian photographer, noted for his work with Marilyn Monroe and his nude photography. Bromoil gelatine print, ±1925, 15x20,6 cm., mounted. = Possibly taken at Chez Claude Aveline éditeur, the small Parisian publishing house founded by Aveline in 1922 who published several works by Valéry. Lendvai-Dircksen, Erna Portraits of Ergy Landau 4131). - Some light scuff marks, one print with slight fading in edges, otherwise in good condition. - With: Photo postcard of one of the larger prints. Portraits of the photographer Ergy Landau (1896 - 1967). Circa 1919. 3 vintage sepia-toned matte gelatin silver prints. Each circa 22,5 x 17 cm. Each mounted to board (soiled) and signed by the photographer in pencil below the image on the mount. Ergy Landau worked in several studios (Setzer, Vienna and Dührkoop, Berlin) before opening her own studio in Budapest in 1920. She was forced to emigrate in 1923 and went to Paris where she opened her Landau Studio. She did many portraits and nudes and in 1927 she changed her style, replacing the softer focus of Pictorialism with the dynamic angles and sharp lines of the New Vision. Landau also participated in the Werkbund exhibition in Stuttgart in 1929. Fellow Hungarian photographers Nora Dumas and Ylla began their careers in the Landau studio (see
