Unsigned but with a copy of the Certificate of Authenticity from Hospitality Galleries, who sold several of his pieces. BIOGRAPHY: T. L. Lange (Anthony Leo Lange). Lange was born in Pennsylvania but moved progressively southward, studying painting and drawing at Winthrop College, South Carolina and eventually moving to Atlanta, Georgia for a brief period and then moving back to Atlanta. His paintings are characterized by deeply saturated color sometimes with fully abstract compositions and some with suggested figures. They invite narrative but offer none as the viewer is encouraged to create a personal narrative. In his brief career Lange had several shows 2005 Mason Murer Fine Art, Atlanta GA. PROVENANCE: Purchased c. 1998 from Hospitality Galleries, Orlando Florida by the consignors. This piece is from the private archive collection of Smith Earnest Interiors Inc., design firm run by Jeffry Smith and Olen Earnest for over 20 years. The firm specializes in custom interior design for estates, homes and yachts throughout the United States. Their designs have been featured in USA Today, House Beautiful Houses and Plans, Christies Great Estates, Florida Architecture, Florida Design, Orlando Magazine, Orlando Home Design and Women’s Day Kitchen and Baths to name but a few. Their designs have taken numerous awards, some of which include the prestigious Best in America Living Award from the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) for the ‘Best One of a Kind Spec House in the United States’ in 1997 and more recently, two Aurora Awards in 2003 for the best $3,000,001 and over One of a Kind Custom Home and also the $2,000,000 - $3,000,000 One of a Kind Custom Home.

T.L. Lange (American, b.1965 d.2002) "Pantheon Series" Painting on Paper FRAMED

Signed lower right by the artist. Gold leaf framed with linen outer mat w/ black inner gold fillet. T.L. Lange studied drawing and painting at Winthrop University at Rock Hill, SC. After a brief stint in Atlanta, he moved to North Carolina where he maintained his home and atelier until his untimely death at the age of thirty six. According to Lange, he started his work with concrete visions, and actually began several paintings at one time. He tried to allow some form of synchronicity to determine his next decision. As the artist said, I make marks for the sake of themselves. I create error that I find attractive in all of our everyday lives. However, I leave it hanging three marks shy of discernment. What I mean by that is that I choose that it not be understood or to be scrutinized by its detail or its adherence to reality only to be seen for its sense and its nostalgic response without my personal sentiment. It is important for the viewer to find out the story TL Lange had identified. He wanted them to take the images he had given and create their own narrative. It was his feeling that we all see what we want to see based upon our experience. A highly skilled artist, TL Lange had exhibited in numerous, prominent galleries in his young career. A condensed list includes Artworks Gallery (Salt Lake City, UT), Art Works (Atlanta, GA), Human Arts Gallery (Atlanta, GA), Landsdell Gallery (Atlanta, GA) and Art Dallas (Dallas, TX), Mary Bell Galleries (Chicago, IL) and Foster White Galleries (Seattle, WA).
