        Duo zwei junge Damen singen im Duett, sie sitzen auf einer antikisierenden Bank mit Notenbuch, Biskuit-Porzellan, abgetreppter Sockel mit Bezeichnung, rechts signiert Lanteri, Höhe 48 cm, minimale Brandrisse, Stand mit bestoßener Stelle, Frankreich, Ende 19. Jh. (Ru) Lit.: Thieme-Becker, Band 22, S 361: Edouard Lanteri, Bildhauer, Auxerre 1.11.1848- 22.12.1917 London, Schüler des Aimé Millet, Cl. Guillaume und P. J. Cavelier in Paris. 1872 ging er als Gehilfe J. E. Boehms nach London, wurde 1874 Nachfolger J. Dalous als Lehrer an der Royal Art School. Ab 1885 stellte er fast alljährlich in der Royal Acad. aus. Seine Werke, auch unter Einfluß Rodins geschaffene Charakterköpfe, sind in der Tate Gallery sowie im Victoria und Albert-Museum ausgestellt. Durch seine Lehrtätigkeit übte er großen Einfluss auf die neuere engl. Plastik aus.

        Edouard Lanteri (French/Brit 1848-1917) - Robert Ludwig Mond seated upon an elbow chair in full robes, bronze, signed and dated to plinth 1912, h.36cm, all raised upon a further marble plinth, sold with original supporting portrait photograph and photograph of members of the Faraday Society in 1931 Footnote; An example of this work can be found in the National Portrait Gallery, London, primary collection NPG5316. A chemist, Robert Mond collaborated with his father in the discovery of nickel carbonyl before developing a fascination in Egyptian Archaeology. He went on to work on the Theban Necropolis and helped preserve the tomb of Ramesses. Mond was knighted in 1932, and his vast collection of artifacts was subsequently bequeathed to the British Museum.

        Edouard Lanteri (French/Brit 1848-1917) - Ludwig Mond, bronze statuette, signed to plinth, h.36cm, the whole raised on a further marble plinth Footnote: An example of this work can be found in the National Portrait Gallery, London, primary collection NPG6359. Born in Kassel, Germany, Mond moved to Britain in 1867 and became one of the foremost industrial chemists of the period. He developed the mass production of alkali for the textile industry, and late ammonia, 'Mond gas', and nickel. He spent part of his large fortune on a collection of early Italian art which he bequeathed to the National Gallery
