    • STANISLAV LOLEK (Czech / Bohemian 1873 - 1936) - Summer landscape
      Nov. 25, 2024

      STANISLAV LOLEK (Czech / Bohemian 1873 - 1936) - Summer landscape

      Est: -

1900 - 1905 | technique: oil on canvas | 50 x 70 cm | signature: bottom left | framed Lot description Stanislav Lolek was a Czech painter and illustrator, known especially for his landscape paintings and depictions of nature. His work belongs to the impressionist tradition, which is reflected in the subtle lighting effects and fresh colors that are typical of his landscape motifs. In his paintings, he often depicted a rural environment with an emphasis on the changes of light in nature, as is also the case in this painting. Lolek masterfully used light palettes and loose brush strokes to create an atmosphere of calm and harmony. This painting depicts an idyllic rural landscape bathed in soft light, where green shades intermingle with pastel tones. The painting is an example of the artist's ability to depict nature in its natural beauty and evokes a sense of lightness and calm, which is typical of Lolk's works.

      Nov. 25, 2024

      STANISLAV LOLEK (Czech / Bohemian 1873 - 1936) - Autumn landscape

      Est: -

1895-1899 | technique: oil on canvas | 20 x 29 cm | signature: bottom right | framed Lot description Stanislav Lolek, an important Czech painter of the end of the 19th century, was primarily inspired by nature and the rural landscape in his work, which is evidenced by this painting dated 1895-1899. In this period, Lolek was strongly influenced by the work of Antonin Chittussi, one of the pioneers of modern Czech landscape painting. Chittussi's emphasis on the atmosphere of the landscape and the ability to capture its variability is reflected in Lolk's painting, which stands out for its soft tonality and careful processing of light and color effects. Here, Lolek faithfully depicts the rural landscape, emphasizing authenticity and naturalness, thereby contributing to the formation of modern Czech landscape painting. This painting is an example of Lolk's mastery in combining realistic accuracy with the lyrical mood that is typical of his work in these years.

LOLEK Stanislav (13. 11. 1873 Palonin - 9. 5. 1936 Uherske Hradiste) Summer landscape Oil on canvas, 69 x 95 cm, framed, glazed, dated 1933, signed lower right. This painting is Lolek's mature work from the period which was marked by his interest in Czech landscape. The main part of the painting is the land with its high horizon. Geological structures and the vegetation are rendered with wide hatching which underlines the dramatic character of the scene. The landscape is seen in full light and rendered in bright colours. Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist, he studied under professor Marak at the Prague Academy of Arts, he was a follower of the Neoimpressionist stream in Czech landscape painting. He was influenced by J. Uprka, F. Kavan and A. Hudecek. In the early 1920s he produced paintings of forests in line with the contemporary demand for this genre. His vivid paintings from the inter-war period contributed to the development of modern Czech landscape painting. See T 2/44, V 3/255, TB 23/337, B 6/720, NECVU 1/456.
