N. Muir 1/15 PROVENANCE: Private collection, Highlands Ranch, Colorado. "Rescue Under Fire" depicts a youthful soldier coming to the aid of his older comrade. It is a symbol of the "changing of the guards" while also honoring the courage of both generations. Courage comes from the heart. In fact in Gaelic the word for courage and hope is the same. Heroism. "Man is not bound. . . ; the Purpose of Life itself. "Heroism" is standing up and producing your own Light of Understanding by casting out your fears. It is knowing and fulfilling our obligation to ourselves and our fellow man; the Purpose of Life itself." (www.jamesmuir.com) HID01801242017

        Muir, James Nathan. Bivouac

        Est: $500 - $800

Muir, James Nathan. Bivouac. James Nathan Muir (born 1945) and resident of Sedona Arizona where he owns his own foundry, is a supremely accomplished artist whose bronzes are highly prized. Interpreting historical themes, his works focusing on the Civil War are absolutely stunning. Here a deceptively simply sculpture entitled "Bivouac" (temporary camp without tent or cover) Muir captures the hardship and strife of the Civil War by his astonishing detailed work depicting three percussion muskets leaned up together. Hanging from the guns is a hat, canteen, and two ammunition pouches, one with C.S. markings. Below the guns, laying on the rocks, there is another C.S. marked pouch on a belt with a C.S.A. belt buckle and a bayonet with scabbard and frog. Muir, James Nathan. Through Shot and Shell. James Nathan Muir (born 1945) and resident of Sedona Arizona where he owns his own foundry, is a supremely accomplished artist whose bronzes are highly prized. Interpreting historical themes, his works focusing on the Civil War are absolutely amazing. Here the monumental "Through Shot and Shell" a limited edition patinated bronze, 42/50 captures the thunder of battle that was the Civil War. In remarkable detail, Muir has captured a Confederate soldier charging through the line of battle, a shattered canon wheel, rifle and canteen at his feet. Bronze measures 19" x 20" x 12 1/2", weighs close to 28 pounds and is mounted on a polished, swivel wood base. For collectors of Civil War themed ephemera and art, this would prove a significant addition to even the most discriminating collection. Buer responsible for third party shipping. The Arden Family Holdings of Beverly Hills. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
