      c. 1470- 1480, carved, in the background are St. Mary and Joseph and another woman, in front of them a bearded man with a bowl kneeling to circumcise the infant Jesus on the lap of the high priest (the knife is missing), 96 x 6 x 90 cm, attached to a new wooden plate, (MC) Provenance: Collection of Rudolf Löbbecke (1884 - 1946), Brunswick; Anton Lepke Berlin, 11.11.1930, lot 122; German private collection; At (c) MAK – Museum of Applied Arts, there is a photograph before 1886, in which the knife and an older back wall are still visible. The photograph is inscribed with: Holzrelief. Beschneidung Christi von Mich. Pacher./ 15. Jahrhundert. (Eigenth. des Herrn Ch. v. Pichler). Michael Pacher (died in Salzburg in 1498), sculptor, painter and workshop manager, is documented in archival records as a master and citizen in Bruneck in the Puster Valley from 1467 onwards. The most famous works from his workshop include the retables of St. Lorenzen (early work), Gries (1471 - 1475), St. Wolfgang (1471 - 1481) and Salzburg (1484 - 1498).       In the manner of Michael Pacher (c.1435-1498), A Tyrolean carved polychrome figure of St Florian, 16th century, wearing a loosely draped cloak over his armour, a burning building at his feet, mounted on a velvet covered hexagonal plinth, 120cm high EW Attributed to the circle of Michael Pacher, (active 1460s-1510) Tyrol c.1500. The young saint is in late Gothic armour of the kind used in southern Germany and Austria between 1480 and 1510, and stands with a pronounced shaped pose with one foot in front of the other like a dancer.
