      Mixed media with gouache and polychrome chalks on paper Slovakia, 1948 Peter Palffy (1899-1988) – Austrian painter and graphic artist Signed and dated lower center in white brush ‘Palffy 48.’ Sheet dimensions: 26 x 35 cm Very good condition The drawing, executed in mixed media with gouache and polychrome chalks on paper, depicts in Peter Pallfy’s typical language of shape and color a composition of a landscape in the Slovakian mountains from the year 1948. The Austrian painter and graphic artist Peter Palffy worked in Slovakia from 1933 until 1945, where he was in contact with the circles of the Hungarian avant-garde. The artist’s oeuvre comprises expressionist and cubist elements up to abstract efforts. The drawing is signed and dated lower center in white brush ‘Palffy 48.’. The sheet is verso mounted under a mat with adhesive stripes and framed. The sheet measures 26 x 35 cm. The total dimensions, including the frame, are 44 x 53.8 cm. (tm) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
