Principe di Tosc l'an 1608 Giulio Parigi I'. Etching made by Giulio Parigi for the wedding celebration of Cosimo de' Medici in 1608. From a series of 19 plates by Cantagalina: Scoglio d'Arno con quatro fiumi fatto dal Sig. Filippo Salviati. This plate is not signed by Cantagallina, and Bartsch reasonably attributed it to Parigi.

GIULIO PARIGI 1571 - Florenz - 1635 Flußlandschaft mit Brücke und Ruinen. Federzeichnung in Schwarzbraun mit Einfassungslinie. 13,5 x 19,1 cm. Bis zur Einfassungslinie beschnitten und an den Rändern auf Unterlage montiert. Gering gebräunt, vereinzelt stockfleckig sowie Ränder teils mit schwachen blaugrauen Farbspuren. Parigi war sowohl als Architekt als auch als Zeichner tätig und stand in Diensten der Medici. Er bevorzugte als zeichnerisches Medium die Federzeichnung, die er in feinen Linien und in typischer Schraffurtechnik ausführte. Vergleichbare Zeichnungen finden sich u. a. im Gabinetto Disegni et Stampe degli Uffizi, Florenz (Inv.Nr. 156P, 163P, 164P und 6072S) sowie im Museo del Prado, Madrid (Inv.Nr. F.D.887). [bg]

Giulio Parigi, 1571 Florenz - 1635 Florenz, zug. BLICK AUF FLORENZ Braune Tuschfeder auf Büttenpapier. 13,2 x 23 cm. Verso gestempelt "Dr. L. P.". Im Passepartout. Im Vordergrund links ragt ein Baum, der auf einer Erhöhung steht, in das Bildfeld. Rechts kniet ein geflügelter Putto halb in Schrittstellung und wendet dem Betrachter den Rücken zu. Einen Arm stützt er auf einen Wanderstock, die andere Hand hat er zur Stirn erhoben und blickt in die Tiefe der Landschaft. In der Ferne erhebt sich die majestätische Kuppel des Doms von Florenz sowie weitere, teils mit Zinnen bewehrte oder Kuppeln tragende Gebäude. Die Stadtteile trennt der Arno, der parallel zur unteren Bildkante fließt. Fehlstelle an der oberen und unteren linken Ecke. Alt auf ein weiteres Blatt niedergelegt.
