    Bildnismedaillon: König James I. mit Anna von Dänemark und deren Sohn Charles; deren königliche Wappen. 2 Radierungen auf einem Bogen gedruckt. (1616). Je ca. 6,2 x 8,5 cm. Um 1600. Hawkins S. 217, 68. Das ovale Silbermedaillon, von dem die vorliegenden Darstellungen abgezogen wurden, befindet sich im British Museum, London. Der zweite Sohn von Crispijn de Passe I wirkte zunächst in Utrecht und London, bevor er 1624 nach Kopenhagen ging, wo er bis zu seinem Tod arbeitete. - Ausgezeichnete bzw. ganz ausgezeichnete Drucke auf feinem Papier, mit breitem Rand. Etwas angestaubt und oben fleckig, dünne Stellen (berieben), dort verso angefasert, die obere linke Ecke ausgebessert, sonst sehr gut erhalten. Six small oval engravings (mirrored) of which four printed on 19th cent. wove paper and 3 laid down on the same leaf as the others, signed in the plate (4x). = Cf. British Museum M. 7082, 7054. Printed from silver medallions by Simon van der Passe: i.a. busts of Henry IV of France and his wife and reverse of the medallion showing their coat of arms, busts of Frederick, Count Palatine, the Princess Elizabeth his wife, and their eldest son and the reverse of the medallion. WITH 3 others laid down on the same leaf. - AND 14 other engr. impressions of decorations by silversmiths, 17th cent.

    Vanitas vanitatum et omnia vanitas. Kupferstich. 19,7 x 16,7 cm. Hollstein 5. Wz. Löwe (ähnlich Briquet 10585, Marburg, 1592). -- -- Der Zeichner und Kupferstecher Simon de Passe war der älteste Sohn von Crispijn d.Ä. und ging in Köln bei seinem Vater in die Lehre. Simon war von circa 1615 bis 1622 in England tätig, wo er in enger Verbindung mit dem jakobinischen Hof stand. In der Folgezeit in Holland lebend, wurde der Künstler 1624 nach mennonitischem Ritus in Utrecht getauft. Seit 1629 war Simon in Kopenhagen für König Christian IV. von Dänemark tätig, wo er 1647 verstarb. Die außerordentlich seltene und anmutige Vanitasdarstellung geht auf eine Vorlage des Vaters Crispijn zurück. Vor dem Hintergrund eines Lustgartens hat der seifenblasende Putto Insignien des weltlichen Lebens um sich versammelt, die achtlos zerstreut auf dem Boden liegen. Sein linker Fuß ruht auf zwei Bänden des Epikur und des Universalgelehrten und esoterischen Philosophen Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim (1486 Köln - 1535 Grenoble). Die konzentrierte und verfeinerte Kupferstichtechnik steht ganz in der Tradition der de Passe-Werkstatt. Prachtvoller, gegensatzreicher und gleichmäßiger Druck mit Rand.     CRISPIN VAN DE PASSE. (Dutch, 1593-1667). Twenty-Eight plates from the Hortus Floridus, published 1614. Some plates by Simon de Passe, some Willem de Passe. Each with later hand-coloring, and initialed by the colorist "DW". The "Hortus Floridus" includes a large number of flowering bulbs, such as narcissus, tulips, and crocus, that were becoming the rage in Holland at the time and reached their critical peak of popularity with the "Tulipomania" financial crash in 1637.
