      Henry Alfred Pegram (United Kingdom, 1863 - 1937) figural bronze sculpture, depicting a male cherub kissing a reclining, partially draped female. Signed on the end of the base "Henry Pegram 1923". Mounted on a contemporary mahogany base. 25" H x 22" W x 10 1/2" D. Early 20th century. Biography (courtesy the Tate Museum): Henry Pegram entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1881. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and won awards in 1882, 1884, and 1886. Pegram also won a bronze medal at the Paris International Exhibition in 1889 and a gold medal at Dresden in 1897. His work includes several public statues of notable English subjects, candelabra for St. Paul's Cathedral, and sculpture for the entrace of the Imperial Institute; his bronze "Hylas" was presented to the nation by the Royal Academy and set up in the Rose Garden at Regent's Park in 1933.
