"The Surrender of Calais: Queen Philippa Pleading for the Burgesses", engraving, published 19th century. Engraving depicts Queen Philippa begging her husband King Edward to spare the lives of the Burghers of Calais in 1347 during the 100 Years War after a siege of the town. Framed 38.23" x 42.75", sight size 20.75" x 25.25". Note: one of these engravings resides in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
