        PIETRO DE ROSSI (St. Petersburg 1761 - 1831 St. Petersburg) BEDEUTENDE, SEHR FEINE MINIATUR MIT DEM PORTRÄT VON ALEXANDER MICHAILOWITSCH GOLITSIN AN IMPORTANT ENAMEL MINIATURE WITH THE PORTRAIT OF VICE CHANCELLOR PRINCE ALEXANDER MIKHAILOVITCH GOLITSYN Signed and dated on the reverse 'Pietro de Rossi Mosco 1810'. 8.4 x 7.6 cm (with ormolu frame). Jacket trägt er den Andreas-Orden, Prince Alexander Mikhailovich Golitsyn (1723-1807) was the son of Admiral Golitsyn from his marriage with T.Naryshkina. At the age of nineteen years he began his diplomatic service at the Russian embassy in the Netherlands. He eventually became Russian ambassador to London. The Prince was instrumental in helping Catherine the Great accede to the throne and during her reign he held senior government positions including Vice-Chancellor, Senator, Chief Chamberlain and Knight of Order of St.Alexander Nevsky, St.Andrew. In the late 1770s the Prince retired from service and settled in Moscow where he became involved in charitable works. He was an honorary trustee of the Moscow Orphanage and built the Golitsyn Hospital. A patron of the arts, Golitsyn acquired a gallery of art works which were sold following his death at auction. Verso signiert und datiert 'Pietro de Rossi fecit Mosco 1810'. Halbfiguren-Porträt nach rechts. An seinem violetten Jacket trägt er den Andreas-Orden, den er 1774 verliehen bekam, und um seinen Hals hat er den Alexander Newski-Orden, den er 1762 verliehen bekam. Prinz Alexander Michailowitsch Golitsin war Sohn eines Admirals. Mit 19 Jahren trat er in den diplomatischen Dienst ein. Im Folgenden war er Diplomat in den Niederlanden und London. Er verhalf Katharina II. auf den Thron. Seit 1778 lebte der bekannte Kunstsammler in Moskau, wo er auch ein Krankenhaus bauen ließ. In äußerst feiner Malerei ausgeführte Miniatur höchster Qualität.

Auf vier Blockfüßen, Sockel mit leicht überstehender Deckplatte. Hochrechteckiger Korpus, in der Front zwei scharnierte Türen. Bekrönung in Form einer korrespondierenden Plinthe mit scharniertem Deckel. Allseitig stilisierter Blattdekor. Interieur mit zehn kleinen Laden. In den Türen zwei Miniaturen von Pietro de Rossi (1761 (?) - 1831 St. Petersburg).
