      Miniatur Portrait eines jungen Mannes mit gepuderter Perücke, in blauer Jacke über gelber Weste mit weißer Halsbinde und Spitzenjabot. Emaille auf Kupfer. 3,9 x 3,5 cm (oval). In gerillter Goldfassung, der Deckkarton alt beschriftet "No. 14 / Lord John Sackville" und von späterer Hand "von / J. Meyer". Um 1740. -- -- Sollte die rückseitige Identifizierung stimmen, handelt es sich um Lord John Philip Sackville (1713 - 1765), britischen Parlamentsabgeordneten für Tamworth von 1734 bis 1747. Er war bekannt als begeisteter Cricket-Spieler und berüchtigt als notorischer Wüstling. 1744 war er gezwungen, Lady Frances Leveson-Gower, Schwester der Duchess of Bedford, zu ehelichen, nachdem sie ihm ein Kind geboren hatte. Als er 1746 von seinem Foot Guards Regiment desertierte, musste er die Armee verlassen und wurde kurz danach in ein privates Irrenhaus eingewiesen.
