Fully marked and stamped STABLER. Length – 14.8 cm / 5.8 inches Weight – 46 grams / 1.48 ozt Harold Stabler (1872-1945) lived and worked with his wife, Phoebe Stabler, the sculptress, at Upper Mall, Hammersmith, London. He was in charge of the art section of the Cass Institute for many years and was one of the close advisers, along with Charles Holden, to Frank Pick. He was partner in the firm of Poole Potters and some of the tiles he designed for Pick and London Transport can be seen in the Tube station at St. Paul's and elsewhere. He had a strong influence on the silver industry, designing many presentation pieces for the Goldsmiths' & Silversmiths' Company and Wakely & Wheeler.

Further marked 'Stabler' English silversmith and designer Harold Stabler. Retailed by Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company LTD. On a sloping curved base alternating Art Deco and geometric panels, the faceted deep bowl is decorated in acanthus panels and has bold ring handles at the side. Trademark "GS".           Harold Stabler (British, 1872-1945) for Adie Brothers Ltd. Art Deco tea service, teapot, hot water jug, sugar basin, sugar tongs and cream jug, circa 1936 electroplate with ivory and wood finials makers marks of Adie Brothers Ltd. of Birmingham, registration no. 810664 the teapot and coffee pot 20cm long. The square pieces were originally design to be fitted onto an oblong bakelite tray. Other examples of this tea set are included in the collections of the V&A and Royal Museum of Scotland.

          Harold Stabler (1872-1945), a pierced ventilation grille, with doves and a dovecote in a garden against a fretwork screen, signed H. Stabler, 135.5cm wide 43.5cm high During the 1930s, the Piccadilly line was extended both north and south. Harold Stabler was commissioned by London Underground to produce decorative bronzed panels for ventilation covers. Examples of these panels are still seen at Wood Green Station.

          Harold Stabler (1872-1945) An Art Nouveau tin wall mirror, the projecting cornice supported by two square columns, with repoussé-worked capitals depicting birds perched in a bower, above a platform base with shaped apron, the central mirrored plate within moulded frame with stylised bird cartouche, signed and dated with hammered mark Harold Stabler 1902 38cm x 34cm Note; Stabler was appointed director of the metalworking section of the Keswick School of Industrial Art in 1898, and left in 1902, the year this mirror was made. He began working for R.L.B. Rathbone in the metalworking department of Liverpool School of Art that same year and it may be that the present lot was made there.
