Bronze, patinated France, late 20th century François Vandenberghe, also van den Berghe(b. 1951) – French sculptor Monogrammed in the cast ‘VF’ as well as inscribed ‘Cire Perdu Bonze’ Dimensions: c. 47 x 40.5 x 24 cm Very good condition Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist; Swiss Gallery, Lausanne Small bronze sculpture if an elephant sculpted in the round, modelled exceptionally naturalistic Already for a long time, Vandenberghe had created elephants of terracotta. Thereby he focused on similarities and problems shared by animals and human beings: the right to exist, birth and death, love and dependence. After years of research and experimentation he has started casting the elephants in bronze. With the help of the lost-wax process he designs them naturalistically in a perfect realism. Condition: The animal sculpture is in very good condition with minimal signs of wear. The dimensions measure c. 47 x 40.5 x 24 cm.
