Chinese School, "Swans beneath Winter Willow", ink and color on silk, sealed upper middle and lower right, 60 in. x 38 1/2 in., mounted with a calligraphy panel above, ink on gold flecked paper, bearing signature of Ma Lin, together 76 3/4 in. x 38 1/2 in., mounted as a hanging scroll with cloisonne handles and partial silk kesi backing, Parke-Bernet lot tag Provenance: Parke-Bernet Galleries, Inc., New York, Oriental Art, sale no. 2636, December 1967, lot 291; George W. Headley III, Lexington, KY; the Headley-Whitney Museum, Lexington, KY (Acc. No. 73.2.2). Note: This lot is accompanied by copies of the Parke-Bernet catalogue pages, in which the work is attributed to Ma Lin (active c. 1180 - after 1256), and invoice dated December 14, 1967.
