Jean-Joseph Vaudechamp (French/Louisiana, 1790-1866, active New Orleans 1831-39), "Portrait of a Creole Lady in a Black Dress and Fur Stole", 1837, oil on canvas, signed and dated upper left, 32 in. x 25 1/2 in., period gilt frame Exhibited: Delgado Museum of Art (now the New Orleans Museum of Art) in September 1938. Illustrated and included in William Keyse Rudolph's dissertation Jean-Joseph Vaudechamp (1790-1864) in France and Louisiana, Bryn Mawr College, pp. 434-436. The pendenat portrait of her husband is also illustrated.
