Provenance

Provenance: Descended in the family of the sitter.~ Note: Pierre Laurent Trepagnier was the great grandson of Claude Trepagnier and the son of Pierre Francois Trepagnier, who was responsible for the establishment of Ormond Plantation in the 1790s. His mother was Elizabeth Renaud; Pierre Laurent married Heloise Reinne of St. Charles Parish. They had four children: Joseph, Pupona, Esteban, and Francesca. Pierre's sister, Elizabeth, married Sylvain St. Amand, who was a Fusilier-Private in the Louisiana Militia during the War of 1812 and who probably fought in the Battle of New Orleans. Pierre Laurent was a fourth cousin of Mme. Lemonnier: his father, Pierre François, and her grandmother, Marguerite, were both children of Jean François Trepagnier and grandchildren of Claude Trepagnier, the first Trepagnier to come to New Orleans from Canada in the early eighteenth century.
