Robert Wadsworth Grafton (American, 1876-1936, active New Orleans, 1916-1920), "New Basin Canal, New Orleans", oil on board, signed and dated "1916", 19 in. x 15 1/2 in., in a period frame.

Note: In the winter of 1916, the talented Midwestern artists Robert Grafton and L.O. Griffith visited New Orleans and often painted side by side. This lushly painted impressionist view of the "New Basin Canal" captures the luggers and a variety of smaller boats used on the busy waterway.
